The inspiration for my paintings of contemporary nudes is derived from classical figures. By painting large-scale depictions of physical intimacy, I hope to provide the viewer with a sense of both voyeurism and discovery. I have tried to suggest an aura of romantic decadence while focusing on the beauty of the human form, often from an unconventional perspective. A number of the paintings are merely evocative of sensual pleasures; others are charged with unbridled passion. Some viewers might find my work to be too suggestive or even scandalous. If any defense is needed, I would say that I am disturbed that repressed emotions and fear of intimacy have become too much a part of our society. I prefer to celebrate the human experience and focus on the sensual aspects of love and romance.
